Security Bulletin – 29 March 2017

With the recent occurrences on the Keele Campus outlined in yesterday’s as well as today’s Bulletin (see below), we want to reassure community members that strong actions are being taken to enhance safety. York Security Services and Toronto Police Services are actively investigating these occurrences and security patrols have increased.

Community members are encouraged to access the many support services available on Campus. This includes the Sexual Violence Response Office which provides support to all members of the community that experience sexual violence and acts as a resource to community members. It also includes goSAFE which upon request will accompany community members safely to and from any locations on campus. Information on goSAFE and other services is available on the York Safety Website.
Reported Sexual Assault – On board Viva bus at the Keele Campus

York Security Services and Toronto Police Service are investigating a report of a sexual assault which occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2017. A community member reported that while they were travelling on board a Viva bus entering the Keele campus they were sexually assaulted by a suspect. York Security patrols have increased and York Security Investigations Unit is actively working with the Toronto Police Service on identifying the suspect.

Suspect is described as male, 30 to 40 years of age, slim build, buzz cut short hair, short light colored beard, wearing dark blue sweater and hoodie.
