Reported Armed Robbery – Delabo Drive (Village Area)

York Security Services (YSS) received a report of a robbery that took place on Sunday 24 April 2016 at approximately 1:10am on Delabo Drive in the village. Two York students reported being approached outside their residence by two suspects. The suspects brandished a handgun and a knife. Cellphones and wallets were taken from the students.  No injuries were reported.  Both suspects fled on foot northbound. Toronto Police are investigating.

Suspects are described as:

Males, in their 20s, 5’10” and 6′ tall, wearing white or grey hoodies.

Security Bulletin Protocol Overview

Security Bulletins are issued with regard to incidents that occur on York University property when:

  • .a serious incident has occurred and there is a risk of recurrence; and/or
  • there is a pattern of recurring, but less serious incidents (such as thefts or robberies); and/or
  • a Security or Police investigation will be assisted by bringing forward witnesses and information.

When an incident represents an immediate threat to the physical safety of persons at the University, there would be an immediate communication to all or to the effected parts of the University following the protocols outlined in York’s Emergency Plan and related procedures, employing the push notification on the Mobile Safety App, the LCD screens, and the emergency PA system.
