Security Bulletin – 11 April 2016

Reported Robbery – Sentinel Road Parking Lot

York Security Services (YSS) received a report from a York student regarding a robbery that occurred earlier in the Sentinel Road parking lot on Sunday 10 April 2016 at approximately 12:15pm. The student reported being approached by 2 suspects as he finished parking his car and locking it. The student’s cell phone was taken, after which the suspects fled east into the village. No weapons or injuries were reported. Toronto Police were contacted and are investigating. York Security Services have instituted directed patrols of the area.
Suspects are described as:
Males, at least 6′ tall, very skinny build, wearing blue hoodies, black ball caps, possibly wearing jeans.

Security Bulletin Protocol Overview
Security Bulletins are issued with regard to incidents that occur on York University property when:

• a serious incident has occurred and there is a risk of recurrence; and/or
• there is a pattern of recurring, but less serious incidents (such as thefts or robberies); and/or
• a Security or Police investigation will be assisted by bringing forward witnesses and information.

When an incident represents an immediate threat to the physical safety of persons at the University, there would be an immediate communication to all or to the effected parts of the University following the protocols outlined in York’s Emergency Plan and related procedures, employing the push notification on the Mobile Safety App, the LCD screens, and the emergency PA system.
