Reported Armed Robbery – South of Keele Campus

York Security Services (YSS) are assisting the Toronto Police Service (TPS) in their investigation of a reported armed robbery which occurred near Cook Road and Leitch Avenue in the village area south of York’s Keele campus.  At approximately 1:25 a.m. on Saturday 9 January 2016, a non-community member was approached by 3 suspects who robbed the victim. During the robbery the victim sustained a serious but non-life threatening injury.

Two of the suspects are described as:

#1 Male, 5” 10″ 19 years of age, brown hair, wearing a grey hoody and blue jeans

#2 Male, 5’7″ 19 years of age, black hair in dual corn rows, wearing a dark hoody

Security Bulletin Protocol Overview

Security Bulletins are issued with regard to incidents that occur on York University property when:

  • a serious incident has occurred and there is a risk of recurrence; and/or
  • there is a pattern of recurring, but less serious incidents (such as thefts or robberies); and/or
  • a Security or Police investigation will be assisted by bringing forward witnesses and information.

When an incident represents an immediate threat to the physical safety of persons at the University, there would be an immediate communication to all or to the effected parts of the University following the protocols outlined in York’s Emergency Plan and related procedures, employing the push notification on the Mobile Safety App, the LCD screens, and the emergency PA system
