Reported Armed Robbery – Troyer Avenue (Village Area)

York Security Services (YSS) is assisting the Toronto Police Service (TPS) in their investigation of a reported armed robbery which occurred on Troyer Avenue near Cook Road in the village. On Tuesday December 29th. at approximately 7:45am a community member was approached by 2 suspects who overpowered the victim and removed a cellphone from him. While the suspects were leaving a handgun was displayed. No injuries were sustained. Toronto Police were contacted and are investigating.

Suspects are described as:

Male, skinny build, approximately 160lbs, 23-24 years of age, 5’10” – 5’11” in height, dressed in dark clothing with one suspect also described as wearing a beige baggy jacket with a dark hoodie underneath.

Security Bulletin Protocol Overview

Security Bulletins are issued with regard to incidents that occur on York University property when:

–      aserious incident has occurred and there is a risk of recurrence; and/or

–      thereis a pattern of recurring, but less serious incidents (such as thefts or robberies); and/or

–     a Security or Police investigation will be assisted by bringing forward witnesses and information.

When an incident represents an immediate threat to the physical safety of persons at the University, there would be an immediate communication to all or to the effected parts of the University following the protocols outlined in York’s Emergency Plan and relatedprocedures, employing the push notification on the Mobile Safety App, the LCD screens, and the emergency PA system.
