Security Bulletin – 8 November 2015. 

Reported Armed Robbery – Near 380 Assiniboine Road

York Security Services (YSS) is assisting the Toronto Police Service (TPS) in their investigation of a reported armed robbery which occurred in the Passy reserve parking lot near 380 Assiniboine Road at approximately 7:25 p.m. on Friday 6 November 2015. A community member was approached by 4 suspects while in the Passy parking lot, a handgun was seen. A demand for personal property was made and a cell phone and wallet was obtained. The suspects then fled in a southbound direction. No injuries were sustained. Toronto Police were contacted and an investigation was commenced and continues. An increase of both static and extra security patrols of the area have been initiated.

All 4 suspects are described as: male, late teens to early 20’s, with one suspect wearing a grey hoodie.

Security Bulletin Protocol Overview

Security Bulletins are issued with regard to incidents thatoccur on York University property when:

  • a serious incident has occurred and there is a risk of recurrence; and/or
  • there is a pattern of recurring, but less serious incidents (such as thefts or robberies); and/or
  • a Security or Police investigation will be assisted by bringing forward witnesses and information.

When an incident represents an immediate threat to the physical safety of persons at the University, there would be an immediate communication to all or to the effected parts of the University following the protocols outlined in York’s Emergency Plan and related procedures, employing the push notification on the Mobile Safety App, the LCD screens, and the emergency PA system.
