Security Bulletin – 3 November 2015

Reported Armed Robbery – Atkinson Road
York Security Services (YSS) is assisting the Toronto Police Service (TPS) in their investigation of a reported armed robbery which occurred near 90 Atkinson Road at approximately 11:55 p.m. on Monday. 2 November 2015. A community member was approached by 3 males on the north side of Atkinson Road, one of whom is reported to have been armed with a handgun. A demand for personal property was made and a cell phone and wallet was obtained. The suspects then fled in a southbound direction. No injuries were sustained. Toronto Police attended and a search of the area conducted. Extra security patrols of the area has been initiated.
All 3 suspects are described as: male, slim build, approximately 5’10” in height, early 20’s, short dark hair, wearing dark clothing.

Security Bulletin Protocol Overview
Security Bulletins are issued with regard to incidents that occur on York University property when:
• a serious incident has occurred and there is a risk of recurrence; and/or
• there is a pattern of recurring, but less serious incidents (such as thefts or robberies); and/or
• a Security or Police investigation will be assisted by bringing forward witnesses and information.
When an incident represents an immediate threat to the physical safety of persons at the University, there would be an immediate communication to all or to the effected parts of the University following the protocols outlined in York’s Emergency Plan and related procedures, employing the push notification on the Mobile Safety App, the LCD screens, and the emergency PA system.
