Reported Indecent Act – Centre for Fine Arts

On Friday, 26 June 2015 at approximately 1:00 p.m. a community member reported to York Security Services (YSS) seeing a male suspect engaged in an indecent act earlier in the day at approximately 9:30 a.m. The location is described as near the seating and gallery area at the ground floor of the Centre of Fine Arts.  YSS were dispatched and attempted to locate the suspect with negative results.  Continued uniform patrols of the area have been initiated.

The suspect is described as male in his 20s, 5′ 10″ to 6′, medium complexion, with a stubble beard, medium to long wavy black hair, average build, 160 to 170lbs. . The male suspect was wearing a navy Polo T-shirt and Khaki pants, carrying a black backpack.

Security Bulletin Protocol Overview

Security Bulletins are issued with regard to incidents that occur on York University property when:

  • a serious incident has occurred and there is a risk of recurrence; and/or
  • there is a pattern of recurring, but less serious incidents (such as thefts or robberies); and/or
  • a Security or Police investigation will be assisted by bringing forward witnesses and information.

When an incident represents an immediate threat to the physical safety of persons at the University, there would be an immediate communication to all or to the effected parts of the University following the protocols outlined in York’s Emergency Plan and related procedures, employing the push notification on the Mobile Safety App, the LCD screens, and the emergency PA system.
