SECURITY BULLETIN – 28 March 2015

York Security Services (YSS) is assisting the Toronto Police Service (TPS) in the investigation of a reported sexual assault.   At 6:00 a.m., 28 March 2015, YSS received a report that at approximately 1:00 a.m., while attending a party in the village,  a female York University student was sexually assaulted both at the village location and while walking on campus.  The male suspect also had attended the party. The second sexual assault took place at the northeast corner of the Goldfarb Centre for Fine Arts.

The suspect is described as 21-22 years of age,  5’3” to 5’5” tall, fair complexion, muscular build, with short dark hair and a goatee.  The suspect wore a blue shirt and a black jacket with white fur on the hood.

Security Bulletin Protocol Overview

Security Bulletins are issued with regard to incidents that occur on York University property when:

  • a serious incident has occurred and there is a risk of recurrence; and/or
  • there is a pattern of recurring, but less serious incidents (such as thefts or robberies); and/or
  • a Security or Police investigation will be assisted by bringing forward witnesses and information.

When an incident represents an immediate threat to the physical safety of persons at the University, there would be an immediate communication to all or to the effected parts of the University following the protocols outlined in York’s Emergency Plan and related procedures, employing the push notification on the Mobile Safety App, the LCD screens, and the emergency PA system.
